Turnaround
Depending on the size and complexity of the design, and how many other
assignments we have on the go, projects generally take between 4-6
weeks.
Estimate Approval
Once we receive an approved/signed estimate we require a deposit to
begin work on your new project.
Measuring and Templating
A site visit will be scheduled so precise measurements can be taken
which are then used to create your custom mould. Some projects will not
require a site template, but a site visit is usually recommended.
Mould Design
Depending on the application, they are made from wood, plaster, or
rubber.
Mix Design
Once the mould process is under way, clients are invited to explore
colour options by reviewing available samples. Custom colouring can
also be explored if the client prefers to match a colour that's already
in the design scheme. Once a sample colour has been approved by the
client, the final mix is poured into the moulds.
Drying/Curing
Once an item is cast it begins "curing". This can take as long as
twenty eight days. During this time excess water evaporates from the
material and the weight of the water is replaced by air. We can remove
from moulds earlier by using special additives.
Finishing
The cured piece is then ground and polished by hand to the desired
finish.
Sealing and Waxing
We use food-safe penetrating sealers specifically developed to increase
the surface density and protect the concrete surface from staining.
Delivery & Installation
We prefer to deliver and install the worktops ourselves to avoid
warranty issues and assure complete client satisfaction. Worktops will
be finished with another coat of wax. Delivery and installation charges
are quoted in our estimates.
